Many of us who aren't beta-testing Windows 2000 are patiently waiting for
Active Directory, the Windows NT centrally-administered directory solution.
In the meantime, it's been a bit of a headache trying to manage multiple
platforms, including Windows NT, and their various directory structures.
The first Active-Directory-ready management suite is available now, a suite
which will move you closer to Windows 2000 readiness. Entevo's DirectManage
suite, which has just announced capabilities extending to Novell's NDS,
allows system administrators to deploy, administer, and manage multiple
directories from a single console.
With DirectManage, sites can easily convert flat Windows NT domains to the
new Active Directory hierarchical organizational unit (OU). Additionally,
users, groups, and organizations can be easily moved from an NDS hierarchy
to either a flat Windows NT domain structure or to DirectAdmin's DirectMap.
DirectMap is a repository of mappings to various directories universally
accessible through Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI), and will map
seamlessly to Active Directory.
This product could solve a lot of directory-management headaches until
Active Directory arrives. To find out more about DirectManage, visit Entevo
