Hi, Windows users...
I'm just seeking for an improved ISP when AOL invited me for an association. Just I sucked the codes from my new merchant partner I also downloaded the new AOL 6.0 for Windows XP - America Online 6.0.2 - (AOL 7.0 is also available, if you prefer...). The file - setupaol60xp, 18MB - installed this new version of AOL in my XP Professional in few minutes, without problems and I was surprised: all banners and windows of the Brazilian Itaú Bank are displayed perfectly, in Portuguese language, inside this AOL in English. I was using AOL just because Itaú Bank sent me it for free usage and now I'm using this fine release because I'm associated with AOL in US.

I used this new AOL here exhaustive and verified that it really improves my Internet connections: fast and quickly connection (115,000 bps using telephone line), surf very enhanced and downloads secures from all servers. Yeah, using AOL 6.0 I can connect the Web fast including during the rush, terrific here in Brazil. New Benefits of "AOL Anywhere"(SM)

AOL 6.0 is another major step in our "AOL Anywhere" (SM) strategy of making our members lives easier and more convenient by making AOL's industry-leading brands and features available to them anywhere, anytime they want - from their PCs, the Web, their TVs, their phones, their pagers, and other personal mobile devices.

As part of its new design, AOL 6.0 features a new button on the main toolbar that directly connects members to a new "AOL Anywhere" site. This new "AOL Anywhere" site brings to life the spectrum of AOL features and services that members can access from wherever they are, including AOL e- mail, instant message features, the My Calendar(SM) service, portfolios, and other personalized news and local information - from either the Web or non-PC devices. AOL is also introducing a new AOL by Phone voice service, which lets members access their AOL accounts using their voice - from any telephone. These services will roll out with the AOL 6.0 service later this year.

Broadband Support

AOL 6.0 offers broadband support over digital subscriber line (DSL), cable and satellite platforms and delivers AOL PLUS multimedia content and features like full-motion video and streaming audio to members whenever they sign on with a high-speed broadband
connection.

New Feature Highlights Of AOL 6.0:

• Streamlined New Look & Design: A simpler and more intuitive toolbar provides faster access to the most popular and frequently used features and AOL content channels. The AOL 6.0 Welcome Screen introduces new programming to make it more personal and relevant to members, and also enables members to customize up to 10 areas they visit often and want right at their fingertips every time they sign on.
  
  
• New E-mail Features & Enhancements: Members can sort their messages and save them directly to specific folders in the Filing Cabinet, and view HTML mail. There's a new "Auto- Complete" capability for stored e-mail addresses, as well an "Auto-Unzip" feature to automatically decompress ZIP files at the time of download, and more.
  
  
• New Buddy List® and Instant Message Features: Members can easily alphabetize and organize names in the Buddy List feature, and insert and delete names at specific points within a list. They can set customized "do not disturb" messages while online, and a "status" window will detail the number of instant messages they received while away/busy, and the time each message was sent. Members can also personalize instant messages with new Buddy Icons, and when they type a ":)" text smile in an instant message, AOL 6.0 will automatically convert it to a yellow smiley face graphic.
  
  
• Built-in AOL Media Player: The integrated AOL Media Player in version 6.0 enables members to seamlessly run audio and video content at the click of a button -- without having to download a separate application. It plays popular streaming and local audio and video formats, and will work throughout programming on the AOL service -- including search and shopping areas, and on sites across the Web.
  
  
• New AOL Shopping Assistant (SM) : Assists members with their purchasing decisions; as members visit popular shopping sites online, the AOL Shopping Assistant will appear at the top of their browser and deliver special contextual store and product information while they shop
  
  
• New Address Book Capabilities: The 6.0 Address Book is easier to use, more versatile and more accessible when members need it. Members can access it when away from their own computer and signed onto AOL 6.0 as a "Guest" and even when they are offline -- to make additions and updates. The Address Book feature also can now be arranged alphabetically and even printed for portability.
  
  
• New Options for "My Calendar" With AOL 6.0, members are able to reach and update their personal "My Calendar" when they aren't signed online, from the Web when at work or traveling and don't have access to the AOL service - and any updates they make will automatically synchronize with their online version.
  
  
• NewGroups@AOL Feature: Groups@AOL is a new feature that enables members to set up personalized "groups"; on the Web, where they can get together with friends, family and other social groups to plan events and parties, post quick notes to each other, share photos, hold discussions, and more. With this feature, AOL members can stay in touch with all of their personal groups and social circles at a single glance.
  
  
• New AOL Print Center: Offers members easy access to professional printing services at a local outlet, and the ability to conveniently order print supplies online.
  
  
• Added Convenience Features & Enhancements: With AOL 6.0, we're introducing a fun, interactive "AOL Invitations" feature for members. We've also made it faster and easier for members to get answers to their questions online, made it seamless for them to view state-of-the-art interactive content, and enabled them to take advantage of voice recognition capabilities.

Availability may be limited, especially during peak times. As with any software installation process, it is recommended that you exit all software applications, including shareware and freeware, during the installation of AOL.

Accessibility of the AOL Service

Becoming familiar with and able to navigate the AOL service and its features easily is the number one priority for AOL's improvement to accessibility.

Since AOL activates multiple levels of forms, the first step for a member, who is navigating the service primarily through use of a keyboard, is to close all but the front window. Use Alt + W to get to the Window menu, and arrow down to Close All Except Front. The Close All Except Front function allows the member to navigate the active form (the one that has focus) without letting other open windows "steal" the focus.

The main keyboard keys for navigating AOL forms are: the tab key (to move from object to object, and button to button), the arrow keys (to go up and down between radio buttons), and the enter key (to activate the default button/action for a form). Using the space bar the space bar activates the button or checkbox where the cursor is. The spacebar, on AOL, is frequently the only way to activate buttons that have focus.

In addition to using Microsoft Window keystrokes and customized screen reader keystrokes or scripts, there are AOL-specific keystrokes available to simplify navigating the service with the keyboard. AOL-specific keystrokes include: CTRL + K to go to a Keyword, CTRL + M to write an e-mail, and CTRL + T to open the mailbox.
