Windows 2000 Professional Beta Tester

 Hi All. Finally the Stat of Art File Manager has been released. Clear & Simple announced August 2, 2000 that the new version (3.1.3d) of DiskJockey Professional 2000 is out. I tested the betas of this fine release on Windows NT 4.0 Server and on Windows 2000 Professional (Workstation) and now I'm really surprised with the extraordinary performance of this new GA! If you are a professional using PCs on Windows 32 bits platform as a webmaster, desktop publisher, or another similar activities, this is the supreme tool for take total control on your works! DJ Pro 2000 in reality is an authentic bundle of enhanced tools inside a ultra-fast, secure and improved file manager. With this fine piece of software you can administrate all files into your web sites, including images, HTML pages and zips. DJ Pro 2000 is also a superb and reliable FTP client. I tested this new release by Anthony Pereira on my Windows 32 bits web IDE and rated it five Butterflies.

I sucked this new DJ, a exe file sized 15.6 megabytes, in few minutes using Download Accelerator Plus, as you can see in the photo above. I installed it simply clicking the exe into My Download Files, starting the screen that you can see in the photo below:

The Built-in FTP Client

An exciting new feature in DiskJockey 2000 is its built-in File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client. FTP is a method of transferring files between your PC, the local system, and a remote PC running FTP server software. DiskJockey's FTP client is designed to be easy to use, fast and reliable. The DiskJockey FTP client features a simple setup interface, multithreaded file transfer for super-fast multiple file downloads and resumeable download capabilities so that you can resume where a transfer may have been cut off without having to start from the beginning.

About the FTP Neighborhood
Within DiskJockey your FTP site information and settings are stored in the "FTP Neighborhood." The FTP Neighborhood is a "Virtual Folder," meaning that it looks and acts like other folders on your system, but has some important differences. When you look at DiskJockey's Folder window you will notice that the FTP Neighborhood appears at the bottom of the folder list, with the FTP sites listed as "folders" within it. We have placed a few common public sites in the FTP Neighborhood to get you started.

This is not intended to fully document all of DiskJockey's FTP functions, but rather give you enough information to see how the FTP client works.

 Zip/UnZip

Do you have a download or backup folder with some zip files in it? Try that out next. DiskJockey can view the contents of your zip files and even the files inside without unzipping them. Another great time saver.

DiskJockey's advanced Zip functions include adjustable compression, password protection, multi-part zipping, zip file comments and corruption repair.

Along with DiskJockey's standard Zip/Unzip tools there is a unique Quick Zip Unzip feature. Need to back some files up or zip a file for quick emailing? Try DiskJockey's Quick Zip. Quick Zip might be better named "One Click Zip/Unzip." Use it to quickly zip or unzip a file in the current folder.

To Quick Zip: Select the files to Zip and click the Quick Zip icon. A zip file will be created in the current folder named with the name of the first file in your list with a .zip extension added.

To Quick Unzip: Select the zip file. Click the Quick Unzip icon . The file will be unzipped in the current folder.

Viewing Zipfiles: DiskJockey has the unique ability to view files inside zip files without unzipping them.

1. Click on a Zipfile, its contents will appear as a "file tree" in the View Window.
2. Double click on the file name in the file Tree which you wish to view.
3. The file will appear in a separate view window
