Hi All.
I just tested here on my Windows 2000 Professional the new and fantastic release
of Clear & Simple (Anthony Pereira): DiskJockey 2000 Beta (v3.1.085 February 15, 2000). It is the biggest (above 13MB, packed) and the most improved
file manager that I saw. Runs fine and have several enhancements in comparison
with DiskJockey 98. Runs fine, without problems. The only problem I see in this
release is the size of the file!

I downloaded this monster (13.2MB) quickly and easy, sucking it through a free call telephone line & free Internet Service Provider, connection gripped by iNTERNET Turbo Ping...In exactly three hours I sucked it totally. Are you using @Home (cable) or another ultimate connection feature? Don't judge me! I' m using an obsolete telephone line here in the Third World, man...). Fortunately the telephone cable was not broken by the wind and I received perfectly here this very big file manager. I installed it without problems, as you can see in the photo below:

Man, I' m sincerely surprised: this giant file
manager install smooth and secure, no troubleshooting are verified and all keys
in Windows 2000 Pro Registry are appropriately inserted. I clicked the icon
created on my active desktop (no reboot is requested!) and the DiskJockey 2000
Beta jumped quickly my screen! This is not a file manager for 680 x 480 resolution
as I use here: if you intend works in a decent environment with this big tool
you must set your resolution to 800 x 600 or above. Actually, in the called
First World, these requests are not problem, because people have jobs, money
and can buy big hardware, including large monitors, and can runs Windows 2000
with its 700 megabytes...I tested DiskJockey 2000 in my Windows 2000 Pro but
in order to make this review I returned to my OS/2 Warp 4 FP12 with the screenshots
made by NamoCapture and produced it in the old fashioned mode, using Boxer text
editor and Brian Haward's FileCommander/2.
Well, if you are an authentic Windows fanatic, enjoy this giant file manager
on this giant Bill Gate's release! Runs fine and have several options. In the
photo below you can see DiskJockey visualising image as thumbnail:

For a beta this release is running very fine.
I performed several tasks using it and any problem I encountered. Note that
Clear & Simple is an experienced softwarehouse that was developed for OS/2
since the first versions. One of most respected OS/2 tools is just Performance
Plus by Clear & Simple. I'm registered user and use it at this time on my
Warp 4 FP12 and I just optimized my Config.sys using it. I' m registered user
of 212 OS/2 applications but just it I not purchased it: I received it in boxed
version, as a gift, from the Brazilian OS/2 guru Renee Senger.
Sincerely, man, if you are fortunate and lives in the First World; if you have
big hardware & big operating systems as Windows 2000; if you have a big
monitor as Sony 21", I recommend: register DiskJockey when the GA is out
because it is really a fine piece of software.

As you can see in the photo above, DiskJockey 2000 have the ability to see in real time (in its internal viewer or in MS IE) html pages. You can administer your web site using DiskJockey 2000, visualizing quickly hundreds html pages as you are using a browser of a web editor; you can edit this pages with a right button click mouse on the file desired, using an embedding programmers' editor or a simple Notepad if you prefer (I' m using Boxer 99). Note that DJ 2000 have a nice and very efficient FTP client built-in , you can use it to upload updated pages to your web site with a simple drag and drop operation. With DJ 2000 you take total control navigation and operation on your desktop for several purposes.

Exciting new feature: FTP
An exciting new feature in DiskJockey
2000 is its built-in File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client. FTP is a method of
transferring files between your PC, the local system, and a remote PC running
FTP server software. DiskJockey's FTP client is designed to be easy to use,
fast and reliable. The DiskJockey FTP client features a simple setup interface,
multithreaded file transfer
for super-fast multiple file downloads and resumeable
download capabilities
so that you can resume where a transfer may have been cut off without having
to start frmo the beginning.
About the
FTP Neighborhood
Within DiskJockey your FTP site information and settings are stored in the "FTP
Neighborhood." The FTP Neighborhood is a "Virtual Folder," meaning
that it looks and acts like other folders on your system, but has some important
differences. When you look at DiskJockey's Folder window you will notice that
the FTP Neighborhood appears at the bottom of the folder list, with your FTP
sites listed as "folders" within it. The real FTP Neighborhood folder
is actually located in the DiskJockey folder, with each of your ftp site's configuration
information stored inside as files. You may change the name of the FTP Neighborhood,
but it must be located in the DiskJockey folder.
Started ftp'ing by following these 3 steps:
Adding a
New FTP Site
In order to connect to a site you must first tell DiskJockey about the site.
Begin by right-clicking on the FTP Neighborhood Icon in the Folder List and
choosing "Create New Folder" from the resulting context menu. The
"Add New FTP Folder" dialog will open.
Fill in each of the necessary fields. In most cases only FTP Folder Name, Host
Name, User ID and Password are required.
FTP Folder
Name - This is a "friendly"
name used to identify this site in your FTP Neighborhood. You may want to ues
the site's doamin name (i.e. www.clear-simple.com) or something that is more
descriptive (i.e. Clear & Simple, Inc.)
Host Name/Address - This is the FTP server's "internet
name" It can be an IP address (207.69.43.179) or a domain name (ftp.diskjockey2000.com)
User ID - Your user ID for this server. Note: many public "anonymous" servers allow you to log in by
simply entering the user ID "anonymous"
Password - The password corresponding to your
user ID. Note: on "anonymous" servers you
are normally required to enter your email address as your password. Click the
"Remember Password" checkbox if you do not want to be prompted for
the password each time DJ logs on to this site.
Initial
Directory - The directory
on the server which you would like DiskJockey to open when you initially log
on.
Set FTP
Port - All ftp servers
listen for client commands on a specific port; enter it here. Note: Most servers
use the default port of 21. If you do not know the server's port leave this
set to 21.
Set Firewall Mode (PASV) -
Check this box if your firewall/proxy server requires PASV mode for FTP transfers.
Beta Note: DiskJockey does not seem to work properly
on some systems without this checked, whether you are behind a firewall or not.
If you are having trouble connecting to a site, try checking this box.
Proxy - If you are behind a firewall/proxy
server enter its IP address here.
Connecting
to an FTP site
Connect to a previously configured FTP site by clicking its "Folder"
in the FTP Neighborhood. After DiskJockey negotiates a connection with the server
the site's folders will appear in the folder and file lists, giving the appearance
of local folders.
Transferring
Files and Folders
Transferring files and folders is easy: Select the files or folders you wish
to transfer and drag and drop them on the folder into which you would like to
transfer them. This works when either transferring files to or from the server.
Transfer
Queue List
All file transfers appear in the transfer queue list. This list provides a considerable
amount of feedback to the user-transfer status, rate, and progress, as well
as reporting transfer errors. When transferring folders, DiskJockey will search
the folder path for files and add them to the transfer queue individually. From
this list you may stop, restart or resume the individual transfers by right
clicking to display the Transfer Queue List Context Menu.
Transfer
Queue List Context Menu Options
Stop
Operation - Stops the selected transfer. This is only available if the selected
file is currently being transferred.
Restart
Operation - Restarts a stopped file transfer from the beginning of the file.
This may be used if the transfer has been interrupted by an error or by clicking
Stop Operation.
Resume Operation - Resumes a stopped file transfer from where it was interrupted.
This may be used if the transfer has been interrupted by an error or by clicking
Stop Operation. Very handy when your internet connection has been lost or in
the case of a server crash.
Set Top of List - Puts the selected file at the beginning of the Transfer Queue List.
File will begin transfer when next thread is available.
Set End of List - Puts the selected file at the end of the Transfer Queue List. File
will begin transfer when all others are finished.
Delete
Entry
- Removes a file from the transfer Queue List. File will not be transferred.
Creating
New Remote Folders
Right click on the FTP Folder or Subfolder where you would like to create the
new folder and choose "Create New Folder." A new folder will appear,
ready for you to edit its name.
Deleting
Files and Folders
Right click on the folder or file you would like to delete and select delete
from resulting context menu.
