New E-Disk Provides LVD (Low Voltage Differential) SCSI that Enhances Signal Integrity and Allows up to 12 M Cable Lengths

Bitmicro NetworksInc. today announced at the Washington, D.C., COTScon East 2000, the availability of E-Disk SFL35, the world's first differential SCSI flash storage product.

"Based on our proven Fast Wide SCSI E-Disk, our 16-bit wide SFL35 adds the improved reliability and increased cabling distance of low voltage differential transceivers," said Ron Orcine, one of the key developers of the SFL35.

With capacities of up to 18.9 GBytes and sustained random transfer rates of 18 MBytes per second, customers are using the E-Disk in high performance applications that require longer cables and better noise immunity. Bitmicro Networksis the only flash drive manufacturer to incorporate SCSI differential into its products.

The enhanced SFL35 Fast Wide SCSI Differential is the newest addition to BiTMICRO's E-Disk product line that doubles the performance of the previous SFX35 Fast SCSI, and quadruples the earlier SNX35 Normal SCSI predecessors. The sustained read and write transfer rates of SFL35 are over 9 times faster than the closest competitors.

The earlier SNX35, SFX35, and SFW35 predecessors have undergone several extensive product qualifications worldwide across Windows, MacOS, and various UNIX platforms including SunOS, IRIX, Linux, *BSD, IRIX, OS/2, AIX, SCO, OSF1, and CP/M. "Our customers are responding very positively and the results of their qualifications are very encouraging," said Fred Curiel of Bitmicro NetworksCustomer Support.

The high performance E-Disk SFL35 is a natural fit into the burgeoning Network Attached Storage (NAS) market. SFL35 is well suited in mission critical storage applications that require high system uptime, high input/output (I/O) rate, and high sustained reads and writes. SFL35 is also the favored storage solution for applications operating in harsh environment of extreme temperature, shock, and vibration.

BiTMICRO NETWORKS' customers come from various industries including telecommunication, financial trading, OLTP, Internet, servers, e-commerce, multimedia, video-on-demand, film, video, and audio editing, transportation, aerospace, industrial, government, and military.
