P hoto shows FTE programmer's editor running on @Macarlo's Warp 4.0 FTE Updated for OS/2, Linux and Windows

Great news, programmers!!! Marko Macek updated the famous FTE text editor for OS/2 Warp, Linux and Windows, including NT. I @Macarlo. old FTE user, downloaded the new versions (ported by M. Taylor for OS/2 and by M. Kosina for Windows) and tested it. Runs fine but on OS/2 Warp the old problem continue: FTE have not direct access to OS/2 clipboard, as Boxer from David Hamel and TSE Pro from SemWare. FTE is freeware. I recommend it because is really very good!!!

Macek saids that he are only running Linux at this time, so he cannot provide binaries for other systems. FTE updated was compiled for OS/2 by Michael Taylor (fte4913o.zip, 510k, 24th May 1999, get it at http://users.interact.net.au/~pmiy/ftpindex.html ) and for Windows by Milan Kosina (FTEN4913.ZIP - FTE 0.49 beta , 216,7k, get it at http://www.jikos.cz/~milan/Editors/)

  Bugs List

OS/2 notes and limitations:

- pm controls are not disabled while a modal entryfield is active.
- pm subwindows can not be resized.
- does not handle multiple frames well (dialogs are modal for all).

Linux notes and limitations:

- Console version:
  Runs only on linux console. Requires rw access to /dev/vcsa?? devices.
  Runs in raw mode, so switch consoles using Ctrl+Alt+Fn. Currently
  operates in no-translation screen mode. Console cut/paste does not currently
  work.

- X11 version:

 
  If your backspace key does not work, make sure it is defined as
  BackSpace (using loadkeys/xmodmap).

- Some stuff may still be OS/2 centric. This will be fixed
  in the future.
