 Hi, sizzlers...
We are surprised, because testing HotDog 6.0 on Windows 2000 at last April we encountered some problems with his performance. Now, we tested version 6.2 this Tuesday September 19 on Windows 2000 Pro (GA) and we verified that this one surpasses ALL another web editors currently available. We edited a lot of single complicated pages using only 6 per cent of the CPU of our Pentium 200 Test Machine, that runs with 130MB EDO RAM; and we edited another pages opening our principal web site project with above 7,000 items (4,000 web pages and 3,000 images) and HotDog 6.2 used only 7 per cent of the Pentium 200 CPU (but sucked a lot of RAM...). Wit this fine piece of software Sausage goes definitely to Nirvana: we rated it five Butterflies, the maximum in an evaluation in this web site.

HotDog Pro Webmaster Suite 5.5 Tested on Win 2000

The version 6.0 of HotDog that we tested on Windows 2000 Professional (the Workstation of the a.k.a. operating system called Windows NT 5.0) presented a CPU usage that we judged excessive, but now we discovered that the problem was not with the web editor but with the operating system, because the Windows 2000 that we used for the evaluation was a Beta (release 3) with some problems).

Now we tested the new version of HotDog (release 6.2) on Windows 2000 Professional GA and we verified that this fantastic web editor consumed only 6 per cent of the CPU of our Test Machine, an obsolete Pentium 200 (as you can see in the photo below. Note that the "Performance"window of Win 2000 Pro Task Manager is measuring the work of HotDog 6.2 with dozens of large and complicated web pages of my principal web site loaded at the same time. But a lot of RAM was sucked: 128MB of EDO are available in this machine and only 8.224 are free.

In the photo above you can see the results of the next step of our test: we loaded the entire @Macarlo, Inc. Official Web Site Project, totalising 7,000 items (4,000 web pages + 3,000 images) and HotDog 6.2 consumed only 7% of the CPU of this obsolete Pentium 200.

HotDog Professional 6.2 have a super-complete Help built-in, including an extensive tutorial about CSS, as you can see in the screenshot above. HotDog is not a web editor for beginners, but if you are a beginner you also can use it! When you put your arrow of the mouse on a tag, immediately HotDog explains what this tag is and for what is it used! If you encounter any doubt during your work, you simply call for the Help and the doubt is quickly solved!

This fantastic authoring tool have the most complete set of menu options currently available in all the world in a web editor. In the photo below you can see the items available on "Resource Manager", an option of the "View"menu. In the next photo, below, the web page of HotDog Professional 6.2 in Sausage Software web site, loaded by Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 of @Macarlo's Windows 2000 Professional.

 What's new in this release

HotDog Professional is a Text Based Web Authoring tool primarily used by High End Web Professionals or what we at Sausage refer to as "Gun Coders". With this in mind the simple mission of HotDog Pro 6.2 was to create "The Gun Coders tool of choice". Top 6 Design Themes...

Performance
Number one priority for HotDog Pro 6.2.2 was to make it the optimal productivity tool for Gun Web Coders

Lower Resource Usage.

HotDog 6 uses approximately 12% - 18% of system resources compared to HotDog 5.5, which used a minimum of 35% and potentially up to 100%.

Faster Loading Time.

HotDog 6 loading times range between 3 – 8 seconds, depending on system configuration, which is on average 4 times faster than HotDog 5.5.

Faster Document opening time.

HotDog 6 average document loading time is under one second, which is approximately 5 to 10 times faster than HotDog 5.5.

SDI (Single Document Interface).

The new HotDog 6 Document Interface allows you to open hundreds of documents with negligible use of resources.

New HTML Navigation View Resource Panel.

The HTML Navigation View distills a HTML file into a structured tree view, which can be filtered to show all tags, specific tag types or just major HTML objects.

 Synchronized Tree/Document Tag navigation.

Navigation of tree view is tracked on the fly in the current document (and vice versa), selecting an item in the tree view will place the cursor in the corresponding tag in the current document.

Select/Collapse and Edit Tag in Document.

Right clicking any tree item will offer options to select or collapse the current tag in the Document. Double clicking an item in the tree view will open its corresponding dialog (if one is available) populated with the current attributes ready for quick editing.

 > Cascade Style Sheet Authoring
Cascading Style Sheets are now used extensively in High End Websites to provide complete control over look and feel from one single point.

 New CSS Resource Panel.

To house all your CSS style sheets there is a new Resource panel, complete with a few of our own. This Resource panel is the focal point for all new CSS functionality.

New Create Style Sheet and Create Style functions.

HotDog Pro 6.2 has a completely revamped set of interfaces for Importing, Creating and Editing CSS style sheets and then applying them to your webpages. All CSS functionality is available through an intuitive and easy to use set of Wizards and point and click dialogs.

 New Font / Paragraph Dialog.

Apply inline styles to individual Font and Paragraph Tags using new easy to use point and click dialogs.

> Script Authoring
Scripting is another area widely used in High End Websites. HotDog Pro 6.2 provides an easy to use interface to add scripting functionality to elements in your webpages.

New Scripting Resource Panel.

The Scripting Resource Panel provides an interface to Add, Edit and Delete HotDog "ScriptBits" to the currently selected element in your HTML document.

Use HotDog "ScriptBits" to easily add scripting functionality to objects in your webpages.

HotDog "ScriptBits" are pre-configured Java Script functions that can be manipulated, combined and configured via an easy to use point and click interface.

W3C Accessibility Initiative
