IBM AIX 4.3.1 on RS/6000 is First 64-Bit
Operating System to be Branded Unix 98

IBM's AIX 4.3.1 on RS/6000 is the first 64-bit
operating system to be branded Unix 98. Unix 98 is
a family of product standards, promulgated by The
Open Group to maximize the benefits of Unix.
These new standards provide server functionality
for open platform and Internet server, as required
in The Open Group's IT DialTone Architecture.
They will also help to provide a stable foundation
for Internet-based systems.
