Windows 2000 Professional Beta Tester

 Hi All.
We just tested here the Magellan Explorer 2000 (Voyager file Manager version 2.0 -The name has changed from Enriva Voyager in order to avoid any confusion with the similarly named “FTP Voyager” from Rhino Software.) and this soft runs fine on Windows 2000 Professional. We tested the version 2.0a but the version 2.0c has been released.

 Magellan Explorer 2000 offers a wide range of  functions, features and modes to make your file management easy and flexible, including:

 General

 Different operation modes. If you enjoy using  the dual window approach popularized by Norton Commander and Directory Opus you'll feel right at home with Magellan Explorer 2000.

 On the other hand, if you would just like to browse your hard drive the familiar Windows Explorer approach is just a click away.

 Navigation. Move between folders, archives and FTP sites using Back/Forward buttons and History as you would with a web browser. Also, single click access to your drives is available through the DriveBar.

 Bookmark the folders, archives and FTP sites you use frequently as you would with web sites.

 Archive management

 Internal Zip and Rar support. Open archives as if they were folders. Copy, move and delete files inside archives as you would with normal folders.

 Unarchive support for Arj and Lha. Extract the contents of such archives with a single click (requires external tools).

 Tools

 Group (wildcard) rename. There is no need to manually rename large groups of files, let Group Rename do the job for you.

 Folder Size gives you fast, single click information on the selected folders and their subfolders.

 Virtual Folder. Now you can group files together without having to copy and move them around on your harddrive.

 Folder Synchronization. Keep your work and backup folder up to sync using this simple tool.

 Time Stamp. Edit all the time and date information associated with a file or folder with just a few clicks.

 Duplicate files and folders with ease using the Clone tool.

 Internet

 Integrated FTP. Browse and use FTP sites as if they were on your local hard drive.

 Internet awareness. Magellan Explorer is able to automatically inquire about updates and display relevant news items. You may also subscribe to our mailinglist directly from the program.

 Customization

 Themes. Choose the hotkeys, button panel layout and files selection method of your favorite filemanager with a single click.

 File and folder selection. The selection method is completely customizable. You may use left or right mouse button, sticky multiple files selection or Ctrl and Shift combinations. If you prefer it, Magellan Explorer can even remember your selections even after you have left a folder.

 Layout. If you like your Button Panel on top, in the middle or at the left, your Drive Bar to the right or the left of the menu, Magellan Explorer can handle it all.

The new version of Voyager is filled to the brim with new features and options.

Complete drag and drop support!
Voyager now supports drag and drop regardless of where are dragging to, or from. Create shortcuts by dragging files to the desktop, download files and backup your data, all using this simple method.
You can even drag files from within archives directly onto FTP sites, and the other way around.

New file viewer!
The new version comes with both a small and fast text viewer and an advanced multi-format viewer based on ActiveX technology.

All time-consuming file operations now run in the background!
Copy (As), Move (As), Find, Delete, Download, Upload, Archive and Unarchive now all run in the background.

There is also new progress window which gives you all the information and statistics about your file jobs you could wish for. It even comes with a queue scheduler which gives you complete control over all operations. Pause, Stop or Play any file operation!

Improved performance!
Copy and Move is now up to twice as fast as "Windows Explorer" and previous versions of Voyager. It doesn't stop there. The Find tool is up to 10 times faster the before.

This is made possible by taking advantage of advanced file technology such as overlapped I/O (NT only) and Non-Buffered I/O. The latter enables Voyager to bypass file system cache, and read and write directly to memory.

Improved archive management!
The integrated compressed archive client in Voyager now has support for more formats, features and options.

  ·  Internal Cab, Arj and Lha support
  ·  Archive-to-Archive copy
  ·  Archive in treeview as folders
  ·  Auto-Update of files inside archive sites (repacks changed files)
  ·  Rename, New folder and Edit now works inside an archive
  ·  Improved creation of archives
  ·  Voyager can now be associated with supported archives

Improved FTP support!
Just as the compressed archive client, the FTP support sports many new features and options.

  ·  Archive-to-FTP and FTP-to-Archive copy
  ·  Direct FTP to FTP transfers (FXP)
  ·  Treeview available on FTP sites as well
  ·  Auto-Update of files on FTP sites (uploads changed files)
  ·  Faster FTP login and navigation  
  ·  Force uppercase/lowercase on uploads
  ·  Detects overwrites and updates the folder window on upload

  ·  Clipboard URL monitoring
  ·  Proxy authentication support
  ·  Folder windows are never locked when transferring files

Enhanced folder windows!
The folder windows are now completely compatible with the Windows standards.

  ·  Special folders such as the Control Panel can now be opened
  ·  Large icons, small icons, list and Explorer style details.
  ·  Spring loaded folders
  ·  Copy/Cut/Paste is available from Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V

  ·  Single-click (QuickEdit) rename in some selection modes
  ·  QuickParent - Click on the frame of the window to go up

More options!
There are now over 100 options in Voyager, allowing you to customize it to suit your needs.

  ·  Back and Forward are now available from the QuickBar
  ·  Voyager can display true filenames
  ·  Keyboard shortcuts can be displayed on the Button Panel
