MED for Windows

To download MED for Windows 9x/NT4.0 V2.0 (build Sept 14 1998) medw2g.zip 670kb (german version) or medw2e.zip 673kb (english version) simple click the logo above. This version includes the german online help (the english help will soon be available).

Developer Matthias Pfersdorf, from Utopia Planitia Software Engineering, author of famous MED (is a powerful shareware text editor for OS/2 programmers) released a version for Microsoft Windows 9x/NT4.0. Since the first release in October 1995, MED found a lot of friends in the OS/2 community all over the world. Private users, students and professional programmers including IBM employees) have become happy and registered (!) MED users. I, @Macarlo, am registered user of MED (only for OS/2).

This release is full functional and comes with german online help (the english
help will soon be available). Unfortunatly Microsoft has still not released the
HTML-Help runtime package, so you must have Internet Explorer 3.x/4.x
installed on your system to use the online help. If you have IE3.x installed, you
must update the online help features using "hhupd.exe". You can download
the file from Microsoft's web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/author/htmlhelp/distrib.asp

Installation

Minimum system requirements:
----------------------------
o 486 with 8MB RAM for Windows 95 or 16MB for NT/Windows 98
o 1 MB free disk space
o Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0

Installation:
-------------
MED comes with a installation program. To install MED from a ZIP
file do the follwing:

(1) Decompress the MED Zip file to an empty temporary folder

(2) Run SETUP.EXE and follow the instructions of the
setup wizard.

(3) Delete the files decompressed in step (1).

Note: The MED installation does *NOT* modify your system
or exchange any system DLL!

Deinstallation:
---------------
You can use the Windows Software Deinstallation mechanism
to remove MED from the system. However, the deinstallation
program UNINST.EXE will remain in the MED installation
folder. UNINST.EXE removes only those files, which were
installed by SETUP.EXE. Other files remain untouched.
This is necessary, because you could have decided to install
MED in an already existing folder, which is part of the
PATH environment variable. A recursive delete of all files
in the installation folder might not be a thing you
want UNINST.EXE to do...
