MuPAD 1.4.0, a system for symbolic and numeric computation and
mathematical programming, was ported to several platforms, including Windows 95 and NT, several Unix systems and the Apple Macintosh, and an OS/2 port was just added. For many platforms, there is a comfortable window-based graphical user interface. But for OS/2, we made just a terminal version for a start. This may change with future releases if there is enough commercial demand for a full-featured graphics version, but there will definitely be no port of the graphics to OS/2 this year.

Moreover, the OS/2 version of MuPAD is currently usupported. This means you get a free license for it. You may use it as you like, but there is no support, of course. You may also not re-distribute this version or refer to it in any software review without permission of SciFace. Further on SciFace reserves the right to withdraw this free license at any time in the future.

Here is a short list of the capabilities of MuPAD:

Mathematical Functionality:
- Arithmetic:
* exact integer and rational arithmetic
* floating point arithmetic with arbitrary precision
* complex and quaternion arithmetic
- Transcendental functions
- Expression manipulation
- Solving
- Calculus
- Numerical computations
- Set Theory
- Linear Algebra
- Linear optimization
- Number Theory
- Algebraic Structures
- Polynomials

The MuPAD language:
- easy-to-learn programming language
- Pascal-like syntax
- imperative, functional and object-oriented programming
- generation of TeX output
Now availabe: MuPAD Version 1.4

MuPAD Version 1.4, offering many improvements and new features, is now available. The Windows user interfaces have been re-worked from ground on.
Two different Windows versions, both based on the last MuPAD kernel and ibrary, are now available:

MuPAD Pro for Windows - offering a professional notebook interface with text formatting and full OLE features,

MuPAD Light for Windows - which has a bare-bones user interface only.

Free licenses are available for MuPAD Light, but not for MuPAD Pro. Special rebates for MuPAD Pro are available for students, teachers and members of non-profit research or educational institutions.
You can try a fully functional version of MuPAD Pro for 30 days.
Please note that the registration keys have changed for version 1.4. Users of earlier versions need a new key.

SciFace offers the new Euclid programme for education

Special licenses are available for students, teachers, public schools and universities. Additionally SciFace offers the Euclid educational programme featuring FREE course licenses. Have a look at the Education section.

See you at the ISSAC, the ICM or the IMACS ACA`98

MuPAD will be presented at the ISSAC `98 in Rostock, Germany and at the ICM `98 in Berlin. Further members of the MuPAD Group will give a lecture at the IMACS ACA`98 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The MuPAD Future

SciFace Software will distribute commercial versions of MuPAD in the Future.

SciFace will be responsible for distributing and supporting the commercial versions of MuPAD from Version 1.4 on. The MuPAD Group at the University of Paderborn will continue to offer FREE personal licenses for MuPAD for non-commercial research and education. As SciFace CEO Dr. Oliver Kluge states it:

"The MuPAD Group will continue to offer free MuPAD licenses for research and education as a service to the scientific community. On the other hand SciFace can offer guaranteed support and professional user interfaces to the industry."

In future MuPAD will be developed in co-operation between SciFace Software and the MuPAD Group at the University of Paderborn, Germany.
