 Hi All.
I just tested here on my Warp 4.5 + FixPak14 the new backup tool developed for OS/2 environment by Cristie Data Products Ltd - the PC-BaX v3.00 Backup & Recovery Software for OS/2. We sucked this software (PCBAX_V3.ZIP, 1.57MB) from
Hobbes and installed it without problems on our OS/2 Client that is running here rather than Windows 2000 after the FP14 installation. In order to install this new backup software you must unzip two zipfiles inside diskettes 1.44, labelling these disks Install1 and Install2. I used virtual diskettes, because I'm registered user of this nice piece of software that is SuperVirtual Disk. In the photo below you can see inside my FileStar/2 file manager the SuperVirtual Disk Control, the Install Disk 1 as <L:> and the Install Disk2 as <N:>:

This new backup software for OS/2 Warp is available in trial edition (30 days). I recommend it to all OS/2 users and encourage you to register it, because at this time all developers devoted to the Warp cause must be stimulated. In the photo below you can see this new soft installing on my Warp:

In the next photo below you can see the folder (and some sub folders opened) created by the Install on the Warp desktop. Note that this new backup tool offers a complete set of utilities and manual:

The user interface, data format and command script language are common across OS/2, Windows 95 and NT enabling easy migration between platforms.

        Server Edition

In addition to the features of the Workstation Edition, the Server Edition supports OS/2 LAN/Warp server including HPFS 386 file systems and Access Control List backup and restore.

Standard features in the Workstation and Server Edition

        Disaster Recovery

Disaster recovery can be used to recover both OS/2 workstations and servers. PC-BaX can be run from OS/2 boot disks for complete and speedy recovery of any OS/2 system, this potentially reduces recovery times from many hours to just minutes.

        OS/2 Desktop Compatible

PC-BaX fully supports all the usual OS/2 desktop interface options such as drag and drop and pop up context menus. Notebook views and folders provide a consistent and easy to follow approach.

        Media Library

PC-BaX uses a disk based media library which allows the user to quickly locate and select files or directories for retrieval. The media library is also stored on tape for quick access in a disaster recovery situation.

        Scheduler

The scheduler enables the user to run backup jobs automatically at a particular time on a particular day for fully unattended backups.

        Optimized Performance

PC-BaX has many features designed to optimise backup performance while at the same time minimising the use of system resources. This includes a Quick File Access tape indexing system which gives high speed retrieval of individual files and quick appended backups.

        Advanced File Selection Capabilities

This allows quick selection by volume, directory, and file. File inclusion or exclusion  is user definable for both backup and restore operations as is open and skipped file processing.

        Device Support

PC-BaX supports a wide range of backup devices including DLT, DAT, QIC tape drives and  autochanger systems. The Virtual Tape Driver allows backup to hard disks, network drives and a variety of removable disk products, including the Cristie Photon, LS 120, and others devices, such as Zip and Jazz drives.

        Additional Software Options

        PC-BaX Autoloader Module

The Autoloader module provides the interface between PC-BaX backup software and  autoloader devices, these include Cristie's Autoloader & library range. It enables users to group tapes together for fully automated and unattended data backup.

        PC-BaX ADSM Module

The ADSM Module provides a powerful yet easy to use interface to the ADSM environment.  This includes added functionality and performance over standard clients and improved file  search and sort facilities. PC-BaX ADSM module gives you complete local control of all  aspects of your backup to an ADSM server. All of the advanced features of PC-BaX become  available to the ADSM user allowing complete integration of local tape backup with remote       backup using a common powerful interface.
