Hi All.
I just tested on my OS/2 Client Warp 4.5 (Warp 4.0 + FP13) the new Beta of Download
Center, version 0.32, by Fudeba Software (Daniel J. Caetano) and this fine release
is running very fine here. With Download Center all functions of Autoget are
improved and you takes total control on all downloads. At this time this version
is yet a secret Beta and his name and location cannot be unveiled.
Download Center uses the WarpIN package technology developed by Ulrich Moeller & associates on NetLabs. In the photo below you can see the Download Center warpinned file being unpacked and installed by WarpIn on my Warp 4.5:

In the next photo you can see the Agreement screen for Download Center Beta 0.32 displayed by WarpIN:

In the next screenshoot below you can see the Download Center installation concluded on my Warp 4.5:

When the Download Center install is completed a folder is created on your desktop, with objects for manage the soft and a Manual, as you can see in the image below:

Say goodbye to download problems!!

==========================
Long, long
time ago, in a galaxy far away... (ops, wrong text!)...
Well, it was middle of 1998. At this time I was just wondering
how great
could be a program like GetRight for using with OS/2. At that time,
I had
found an interesting program: AutoWGet Daemon. It was made
by a russian
guy, and it was a REXX script.
I looked into its code
and thought: "Nice concept! If I implement
this in C or C++ I can add more and more functions!"...
AutoGet/2
was born. In middle of november, 1998, I started the
open beta program for my OS/2 friends at OS/2 Brasil mailing list.
It was
great and they were very receptive to the news and I was very, very
happy
with the response.
At that time, all of them
asked for a PM version of the program,
since AutoGet/2 was made for VIO Window, but I had no knowledge
to create
such program. I was just starting on OS/2 programming world. But I was just
starting that version, and even doing it at VIO, I thought to make
it the
better download program ever made... but sometimes we cannot
do what we
want to. In middle of december a crash on my harddisk simply destroyed
all
of my source code, and only an installed version of the program was saved,
on my syster's computer (she was testing the beta version for me).
It was
then the version 0.99.70b of AutoGet/2.
After some
time, I decided to package AutoGet/2, even that beta
program, and distribute it, because keeping it hidden would
be of no use
to other users... Besides, even at beta stage, AutoGet/2
was the most
advanced automatic download program ever made for OS/2! So I
created the
page and I received more than 300 e-mail messages (from different people!)
of support, asking me please to continue the job.
I was learning PM programming
then (and I have not finished yet!)
and then decided to restart the project, but now with a new perspective,
a
new point of view... A new concept...
Presentation Manager Download Center!
But... after
all, what can it do for you? Simple. There is almost
nothing to say. It just do automaticaly every download you need
to do. It
uses WGet bullet-proof system to download files, from FTP or HTTP servers,
always as possible using "reget" option.
Of course PM Download Center
adds lots of features to WGet. If you
had already used AutoGet/2, you'll discover how much better it is now!
All
parameters are now redefined in real time, no more problems
with URL
objects being lost, more options, select the download order,
freeze or
unfreeze downloads at your command!
Say goodbye to download problems. Welcome to PM Download Center.

After you had executed PM Download
Center once, the following files
will appear on the directory:
PMDC.INI PMDC
configurarion file
URLS.LST URL
list for download
Configuration
The PM Download
Center configuration is as easy as breeze. You may
use the default configuration, or you may change it.
At the first time you run the
program, you'll receive some "error"
messages saying you that the configuration files were not
found and then
the program starts using the default ones.
Now the program is
running... At this time it is set to these
options:
- Start Downloads
enabled
- Show WGet Windows
- Check Internet Connection
- Maximum number of download
at the same time: 3
- Search delay: 15s
- WGet parameters: -t 20 -T
45 -w 0 -v -c
- Desktop Directory (search
URL): [PMDCPATH]\DESKTOP
- Download Directory: [PMDCPATH]\DOWNLOAD
- Start in normal state (NOT
minimized)
- Use "Little" WGet
windows.
You can change
everything just pressing the buttons. To change WGet
parameters, just push the "WGet Parms" button, but be
sure you know what
you are doing. The dialog box will help you and let you change
only the
options that will not harm the program work.
Probably you would like to change
the desktop directory, directing
it to your real desktop. Just click on "Desktop" button and
change it. Why
would you do that? Simple. Netscape Communicator only creates URL
objects
on the system desktop. If you change this to point to your "real"
desktop,
every URL created there using Communicator's "Create URL Object"
will be
downloaded at once!
Change the "Download To"
so it points to your download directory.
Remember, however, this program was designed to work under
HPFS. It will
not work properly on FAT file system. Sorry, I can do nothing about
this.
Remember that internet file names are almost always greater
than "8.3"
characters long.

Photo above shows the Download Center Control Panel
Controls
The controls
are very, very simple. Using the list box you can
select a URL and use the buttons to act on them.
The buttons do the
following:
DELETE - Delete
the URL. This will stop the download if it is being
done and cut off the URL from list.
FREEZE - Freeze the URL.
What the hell is that? The URL will
continue
on the URL list, but will be ignored by the
program.
Pressing FREEZE again will "unfreeze" the URL.
STOP - Stop the
download of a URL, if it's running.
UP -
Moves the URL up on download priorities.
DOWN - Moves the
URL down on download priorities.
These commands
acts only on the selected URLs. The following
commands acts on ALL URLs at the list:
DELETE ALL
- Clean the entire list of URLs.
FREEZE ALL - Freeze all
"not frozen" URLs and unfreeze all the
frozen
ones.
STOP ALL - Stop
all downloads. Usefull when you had set lots of
priorities
and want them to act.
How this program works
The program
is very simple. It just searches some directories for
URL objects and then uses WGet to download them. Pretty simple, but really
usefull.
The most "tricky"
part is the Internet Connection check. It's buggy
yet, but I'm trying to make it better. The process it
uses to determine
if the connection is up or down is... The program calls NETSTAT -N to
look
for existing interfaces, and search if there are
any PPP0 or SLIP0
interfaces instaled. If yes, the program get
the number of those
interfaces. Now, it runs NETSTAT -A and verify if one (or
more) of those
PPP0 or SLIP0 interfaces are active. That's all...
