This new release of PMMail/2 offers more than 65 enhancements to the product. Several
notable new featuresare things such as LDAP support, vCard support, PGP5 support,
new ICSL tags, and HTML ripping support. The complete list of new features can be
found at http://www.southsoft.com/suppmmos2hist.html
If you are a registered PMMail 1.x user then you are eligable to purchase the upgrade
version for at a significant savings through SouthSoft distributor, BMT Micro. You
can find them on the web at http://www.bmtmicro.com
THIS IS NOT A FREE UPGRADE FOR 1.x USERS
Purchasing a copy of PMMail 1.x entitled the user to all versions
through
1.99. As this version is not in the 1.x series, persons who purchased a
1.x version of PMMail will need to purchase an upgrade to 2.0. If you
currently have PMMail 1.x installed on your computer and would like to
evaluate this new version, we suggest you install it to a different
directory than PMMail 1.x is installed to. If you install PMMail/2 2.0 on
top of your 1.x installation, it will revert to an unregistered copy until
you purchase an upgrade.
If you are upgrading from PMMail 1.0-1.1, open PMMail/2 2.0 and select
Tools->Migrate from the menu bar. Then, follow the instructions given and
refer to the online help (by pressing the "Help" button) where necessary.
Setting up your trial account
Please, be sure to check out the online help for account creation
before attempting to create your first account. Many questions about
"what information goes where" in this setup process cannot be answered
by
SouthSide, rather they must be answered by your Internet Service Provider
(ISP).
If you are having trouble setting up your account (such as networking
errors), try setting up your account with your ISP on the phone so they
can guide you through this process. We require a very minimal amount of
information to set up an account, and any ISP should know the information.
What is "crippled" in the shareware
version
The shareware version of PMMail/2 will not prohibit the use
of any of the
functions. This way, you can be sure that *every* function works properly
before you register. You will see no nag screens, or any unwarranted text
appended to your outgoing messages.
Some cool features you might have missed!
In case you missed these, here are some added or hard to find
features:
- If you highlight text while reading a message and then hit reply,
only the highlighted text will be quoted.
- If you highlight text while reading a message and then hit the Right
Mouse Button, PMMail/2 will extract e-mail addresses, and URLs and
allow you to perform several operations on them.
- You can drag and drop into and out of the "Files" area of both the
read and compose windows. In fact, you can drag and drop just about
anything. Try this:
1. Open a web page in your web browser
2. Right Mouse Click on the text of the page. Most browsers
will let you drag the page!
3. Drop the page in the "Files" area and mail the message!
- Check out the MIME Associations (PMMail/2 -> Settings -> MIME
Associations). These will allow you to receive an attachment, and
have PMMail/2 automatically decode and open the attachment in any
program that you have simply by double clicking the icon in the
"Files" area for that attachment.
- PMMail/2 ships with several default MIME associations. Please check
these to make sure they are correct for your system.
