Now that you got connected, StayOn the net with StayOn Pro. Let your ISP know you still want to StayOn line by letting StayOn Pro do the surfing when you're not. Handle those pesky message boxes from AOL, MSN, ATT, Net Zero, Juno, and Prodigy.

Small, and superior program that simulates Internet activity to prevent you from being disconnected from your ISP. If you spend a little too long reading a Web page or grabbing a snack, even unlimited access ISP accounts are often signed off if they are inactive for a period of time. This small utility resides in the system tray and keeps you online by periodically retrieving information over your connection. You can specify the time interval, Proxy Server, and support for both AOL and Prodigy connections. Now that you got connected, StayOn the net with StayOn Pro. As read about in the NY Times and featured on Computer Talk. Let your ISP know you still want to StayOn line by letting StayOn Pro do the surfing while you type email etc. Also handles those pesky message boxes from AOL, MSN, ATT, NetZero and Prodigy. Keep on Surf'n.

How StayOn Pro works

In Windows NT RAS must be installed.  This usually isn't a problem as StayOn Pro is designed for Dialup connections.  We have been seeing more and more users start using StayOn Pro for other than Dial up connections.

StayOn Pro works by making a connection to remote servers on the Internet.
Data isn't retrieved just the connection made using HTTP or FTP Protocol.
This provides a minimum amount of activity in the correct protocol (Usually
HTTP) that the ISPs servers don't disconnect during brief times of
inactivity.  Most people think of the program as a pinger, but the ping
protocol isn't always recognized as activity and isn't used in StayOn Pro.
This is true with both AOL and CompuServe that won't even recognize the
download of a file using FTP as activity.

Many ISPs now use timers in their software that will disconnect users if
they don't click the dialog that comes up.  This was a real problem for
users signing onto AOL and minimizing it so they could use their preferred
browser to surf the internet.  The Dialog wouldn't be brought to the top and
they'd get disconnected without warning.  StayOn Pro finds these messages,
even when hidden, and sends a them message to close.  This avoids the
unwanted disconnection.

History

"In 1996 - said Randy, the StayOn Pro creator - I was working on the Internet trying to publish some web pages.  I kept getting disconnected as I worked and lost many hours of work in the process.  Necessity being the mother of invention, StayOn the net was written.  We decided to try marketing it on the internet as shareware.  Over the years many users had Ideas to improve the program their feedback helped us to improve the program.  In 1998 StayOn Pro was released with the ability to run in the system tray and also handled AOL's disconnection dialogs. Some users made the suggestion to add support for proxy servers and we added this support too."

"Still StayOn Pro was targeted at experienced software users and in 1999 the wizard was introduced to aid in-experienced users through the setup of the software.  We also added a feature we call AutoNetSense to automatically detect a dialup connection and turn StayOn Pro on.  This aided many new users who found it difficult to find and right click the system tray icon to manually turn StayOn Pro on.  We left the Manual over ride feature for the experienced users who wanted or needed it. Now StayOn Pro is finding its' way to many users not using dial up access and turn it on manually."- concludes the developer
