 Hi All...
This Saturday August 07, 1999 I continued testing several applications for Windows 32 bits on my new IDE mounted over Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3. One of this programs that I've tested is StarOffice version 5.1. The only problem I encountered with SO5.1 was occurred during the installation. The Setup saids that can't unpack SETUP.ZIP and I expended time analyzing this presumed troubleshooting. Unexpected, I discovered, surprise, that is Zip Magic the responsible! Yeahhh, in reality I discovered that I''m selfe the origin because I've setted Zip Magic enabled at startup and it transformed in folders all zips residents in my HDD! I disabled the option and no more problem I encountered!
At the first time that I crashed with Windows NT (with 3.51) I received the famous memory dump called Blue Screen of Dead and I was scared with crashes on Windows NT because the Registry is a very complicated point. On Windows NT 4.0 I solved this Registry problem using Registry Crawler to perform the necessary periodic clean. Finally I agree to Uninstall from Cybermedia and purchased it from Beyond.com, the software and hardware store that I'm today associated. Withs this tools I repaired my Windows NT4 and never more I have any problem! Now in Windows 2000 I' m using Replendent Registrar because Registry Crawler don't runs properly on this new platform and related <fatal error at memory address>. I received here, last week, a navy screen with this alert: "It's the first time that you are looking this screen? Restart me and contact Microsoft!". I rebooted and the Windows 2000 by itself was solved quickly the problem without any dump!!!
Yeahh, with this results I was encouraged to install this heavy program on my Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3 and now I'm simply surprised! I just discovered that StarOffice 5.1 is optimized just for Windows 2000 guys! Runs smooth, fast, perfect! The StarBrowser 5.1 is simply perfect on Windows 2000 Professional. All other features runs also wonderful! I forced StarOffice 5.1 here today in all manner and have not any crash or freeze. No hour-glass here, men! I compared the StarOffice performance on all platforms and I verify that the best fulfillment in on Windows 2000 Professional running in NTFS5.
